CPS how too

I just replaced my cps on a 93 grand chrk 4x4 w/ a 4.0 and a automatic tranny.
this is how I did it
I jacked up the jeep so I could get under.I used a long (28") extension
and a piece of wood w/ a vee cut into it a flash light and some string.Once under the jeep I located the CPS on the upper driver side of the bell housing.
I then snaked a extension w/ a flex head on it.(I taped the flex head so it would not move so much). My jeep had a single 11mm bolt holding the CPS.I snaked the extension from behind the tranny mount but in front of the transfer case to the 11mm bolt.I used the piece of wood(modified long paint stirer) to move and hold the socket end to the bolt(the extension is so long it's hard to control. Also if you have one of those long rods w/ one of those spring loaded pick up thing on the end that would work also.)Once I was on the bolt I was able to remove w/out to much hassle.I was able to remove the sensor from the top.I tied a string to the plug end and pulled the sensor down from under the jeep.
I tied the string to the new sensor and pulled it back thu.I was then able to insert the sensor back into the hole from above.
I went back under the jeep used the extension set up and reinstalled the sensor.

I know this can be a b1tch use some patience.
I hope this helps
Doug

Re: CPS how too

I have a 97 JGC with the 4.0 I6 and this was very helpful.

Unfortunately for me I did not have that long of an extension. I do however have an air compressor. After hours of trying to get at it with the conventional socket (can get to it but you have no leverage or room) I went to Lowe's and bought a $30 air rachet. It has all the leverage you need, one 5 inch extension and that bolt was out within 1 minute.

Air Rachet = $30
Removing bolt after hours of contortion work = Priceless
