how many miles on original trans?
Saw a simliar post in the windstar forum, thought I'd see what its like for the cars with the same transmisson. Question is, how many miles have you gotten on your original transmission before major work required? If possible, what was the year of vehicle, mileage, engine/trans model, and type of failure? Should be interesting to see....

Re: how many miles on original trans?
umina,
My taurus has 97000 + miles with no major trans problems to date. I just changed tranny fluid every 20000 to 25000 miles, Tony |

Guess I should weigh in as well. Mine's a 2001, with DOHC V6 and AX4N. 36000 miles, just did pan drop and fluid (Castrol Mercon V) and filter. Hope it keeps goin strong....

Re: how many miles on original trans?
It also depends a lot on how you drive...if you constantly accelerate a lot, putting lots of power while at low speed, I read that the transmission doesn't like that - the oil heats up too much, but if you accelerate softly, its ok.
