99 Suburban Fuel pump identification

I have a 99 k1500 with 120k on the clock. I bought the truck used and have no idea if the fuel pump was replaced prior to my ownership. The pump is loud, as usual, but seems to be a little louder here lately. I live in Argentina and parts for the big chevy are few and far between. I am going to order a pump from the US as well as brake pads and a new serp belt just to have them on hand. How can I identify the pump my truck has w/o dropping the tank? Can anyone recommend a good replacement pump, I will not buy from pepboys or autozone type stores, bad luck with their alternators. I was thinking of napa, but their website shows 3 pumps for my 99. One is a delphi which I understand is O.E. now? They also recommend buying a connector and replacing it at the same time. Is the fuel pump the same used on chevy pickups with the same motor? Does the v6 motor in pickups use the same fuel pump, as there are many v6 chevy trucks here.

I called a parts house in the states today and was quoted 350 for a pump. It's a delco, the guy told me it was a updated unit that only pumps when needed and does not run constantly. That did not sound right to me as you'd have to change the computer too, right? He indicated the pumps have been updated too. Is this correct, and please if you have anything to add to this let me know. I am going to order a pump just to have it on hand for what seems to be a problem with the burb's.
