98 Jeep dies after being driven for long period

I have a 1998 Grand Jeep Cherokee Limited the rpm's drop, it starts sputtering then it dies. If you wait about an hour it will start back up like nothing happened. I had a 98 Laredo...it had the same problem, it got in a wreck and was hauled off before I could figure out what was wrong. Please help!!!

Sounds like your fuel pump is tarting to go bad, when they go bad they will tend to overheat and shutdown and ussually if you wait about15 minutes or soo it will start right up again. ussually this only happens when at 1/2 tank or below. It could also be the ignition coil or CPS, but because of the sputtering I would lean more toward the Fuel Pump.

The Intake Air Tempature sensor would cause soem performance problems but never heard of it shutting the engine down. The Idle Air Control Valve would cause stalling, but ussually it would happen the other way around when the engine was cold and only when throttle is closed.

Cps - Pcm

Sounds like the dreaded stalling issue.
My '99 JGC Ltd with the 4.7 V-8 had similar issues. The Crankshaft Position Sensor died hard and replacing it got it running the first time. They can be intermittent, but usually not. I would rather chase a few parts than give the stealership a blank check and let them see how deep my pockets are. A short time later, it began stalling, dieing, quitting, you know, doing the Chrysler shuffle where you dart from the fast lane to the emergency lane with your engine off, no power steering and no brakes . . . gotta love them Daimler-Benz-Chrysler products aye! I thought about putting a sign in my back window pleading for compassion not to honk, flash gang signs or the dreaded finger, after all, this is a Chrysler! I bought a used PCM and had it programed by one of the few trustworthy Chrysler service centers here in Utax, and its been running good for about 2 months now, no stalling!
