I have a co. service truck, so my truck may set all week except during hunting season. If I skip a weekend driving it or make just a short trip or two, it won't start the next weekend. It has a draw of 0.206 amps when it is off. If i pull the fuse that goes to the inside lighting, map, dome, doors, etc. the draw drops to 0.070 amps. Does 70 milliamps sound normal? Where do I start looking for the problem?

0.070 amps sounds like the radio and computer memory.
I would look in to the charging system and battery. the battery may not be getting a full charge or has a bad cell. |

Re: Slow batt. drain, found fuse, now what?
My previous battery was one year old and the battery store said it looked like it was under charged. They went ahead and replaced it anyway. The volt meter shows 14 plus volts when running. I think that the 0.206 amps drain could be the problem ,but I don't know enough about the loads behind the fuse I found to try to clear it. I was hoping that somebody with experience with the inside lighting could tell me where to start looking.

Re: Slow batt. drain, found fuse, now what?
I just had a problem with battery drain in my '03 Silverado. The dealer found that the passenger side seat switch was jammed and making contact, not enough to move the seat, but enough to drain the battery overnight. They said that it was drawing 7 amps. They unjammed it, cleaned the contacts and I haven't had any problems since!
Good luck! |
