Viper Days Nationals event (feedback plz)

Took my camera with me when I worked a corner at Texas World Speedway this weekend, Here's some pics I snapped between cars spinning off course:

yeah, it's a little quiet around here...

anyway, the pix. (please take this as constructive crit and not an attack)!

top pic (purple viper)

the composition is good, but could have been stronger. either pull back a bit and get the shadow in infront of the car or zoom right in and fill the frame will the car, making sure not to cut any of it off. however, as this was a panning shot it wasn't a bad effort.

what sort of camera were you using? all the photos you've posted are quite soft, low on contrast, saturation and contain a lot of digital noise. were you using a film camera and then scanning the prints? they could all use a little work in an image editing application. for example, here's what i came up with in a couple of minutes:



2nd pic (red viper)

you've panned with this pic very well. but the blur lets it down.

3rd pic (white viper)

very strong composition. nice but once again you're being let down by your image quality. there's noise everywhere and the colour saturation is very low.

4th pic (2 cars)

good idea, shame the sun ruined it. also there's a lot of space around the cars. it would look better if you'd zoomed in and filled the frame with the two of them.

5th pic (2 cars from behind)

very good idea and good composition, but the background is quite distracting and again poor image quality.

all in all a good effort, especially since you couldn't really move around much as you were marshalling.
