Buy or Not

Well now i have a 1997 chevy blazer ls, had to many problems with it and i could tell there will be more in the future costing me to much money on repairs, gas, and insurance. I am 17 Monday i am going up to a chevy dealer that is suppost to give real good trade in prices the ACV, wondering if impalas are good cars or not? looking for a 2000-2002 looking to spend $9,950. Are these cars worth it ? any input cant decide if i want the 3.4 or 3.8, friend has a 3.4 runs really good, hard to find a 3.8 around here

hahaha thats funny! my dad has a 1997 chevy blazer ls and it had way too many problems, repairs, gas etc etc. He was tired of it so he bought an 2001 impala like a month ago. It was 8,000 no trade ins no money down. This car so far is the best car i have ever driven and my dad has driven. So far no problems what so ever. If you are gonna decide whether you want the 3.4 or the 3.8 i would say definately get the 3.8.
i see impalas that were the same price and had the 3.4 in it. so my dad was like what the hell give me the 3.8 for the same price. The 3.8 runs like a beauty! plus ive heard of people having alot of problems with the 3.4 so its better to be safe and get the 3.8. plus its better to mod

Definitly take the time to find a 3.8 if your going to purchase a used Impala. They should be easy to have for your price range, also to note unless you find a ex-cruiser, all Impala LS's will have the 3.8.

Re: Buy or Not

According to my info, only the ls had a 3800. The price is absolute top dollar, no bargain per NADA.

Re: Buy or Not

May have been built for some type of municipal or law enforcement use.Look at the rpo tag, see if it has fe3 or f41 suspension codes, also does it have 225 60 16 wheels?

Well congrats you found yourself a once likely Government used vehicle. Only way Impala's come with 3.8's with no LS marking is for the 9C1/9C3 packaged cars. Just to be sure, check by the headlight switch on the car and see if the button to the right says SURV MODE on it. Also, does the Speedo go to 140mph?

I have a 2003 impala 3.4L really like it. I am not sure , but with the 3.8 L you may ahve to use high test gas and your insurance might be higher. I was looking at the 3.8 L , NICE CAR, though. We have always had Chevrolets all the way back to the 57 chevy my father almost bought new, got a Plymouth instead, learned his lesson..after that we had Chevys, except for a slight detore with a Lincoln Continental in 86, what a piece of junk...well it's probably in a land fill somewhere.

Re: Buy or Not

SURV MODE on it. Also, does the Speedo go to 140mph..... no it doesnt have a button there only traction, and doesnt have the speedometer to 140, i read that you could get the basic model with a special order for the 3.8
