No classic Skyline areas?

Hey all...been absent from the forums in a while....been kind of busy. Anyway, my '32 is STILL at Motorex 3 yrs later....and still hoping it will be released soon.

In the mean time, I am seriously considering acquiring an S46 (1971) KGC10 2000GT Skyline. The wife and I are going to look at it this afternoon...will definately post pics upon my return. No Motorex, no customs, no nothing. Straight into the country and on the road.

Don't see much on the boards regarding these cars, but they are absolutely beautiful. This particular car has been completely restored to the look of a KPGC10 or GTR "spec" as they call it. No badges though....so the poser look is avoided. Apparently, some ass-clown from Pensacola was passing off his car as an original GTR and even managed to get Super Street to buy off on it. He was later ripped to shreds by a Skyline enthusiast who pointed out a number of missing/wrong items on the car (most important of which, the 20+ k dollar engine) to which the guy attempted to come up with a story explaining it all....priceless.

I've been looking for aftermarket parts....looks like everything is built primarily for the 240Z, but most are interchangeable.

Not quite yet....they still have about 30 cars in the warehouse they have to do something with...and the DOT hasn't shut them down completely.

Re: Re: No classic Skyline areas?

Value in rarity.....

They made something like 500 S20 engines...256 (I think) went into GTR's, the rest went into storage and Z432's.

A head (a f&ckin head!) for this engine sold on Yahoo Auctions Japan for 1.4 million Yen about a year and a half ago. GTR magazine was all abuzz about it.

I did get to see the car today! Better than I had hoped. Still have those gnawing doubts about whether I want to drop the cash....but my wife fell in love with the car. She WANTS me to get it. The whole interior is pristine...obviously completely redone. There was a bit of rust in the trunk in the drop down points, some cracks here and there....but it looks to be in really good shape. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any "this is trouble" reports on the Hakosuka, so I don't know how bad these items are just yet. It has Watanabe's with 245/60/R15's on the back that just BARELY fit under the overfenders....weird.....but massively intimidating. It's PURDY The car was designed to be a GTR replica....even the glass was all replaced as the GT's had slight tint to them, while the GTR glass was completely clear.

Only one bad thing.....they put a GTR badge on the back now.....hmmmm.

Re: No classic Skyline areas?

I really like that. I know it'd be really hard to get a GT-R, but getting a GT would still be pretty cool in my book.

If I had the cash and knew a bit more about importing, I'd definitely consider something like that.

Its mine!

I'm leaving on a business trip at the end of the week, and the shop is going to do some final prep (including a pre-inspection run to the LTO....they have to changout some things on the car to get it to pass inspection....tires, exhaust stick out from body, Solex's have no filters, etc) so I won't get the car in the garage for about two to three weeks. I'll def post some pics when it gets home
