I have a GSR and the compression is to high in the pistons 10.6:1. are the KMS forged pistons B16/18/20 turbo 85mm 9.5:1 good? any suggestions on new pistons please.

85mm sounds a little big. Isn't the stock bore 81 or 81.5? With the added displacement an 85 mm piston would give you'd gain a little more torque but then you'd probally need to get the block sleeved, or at least bored out. Are you sure it's 85 though the biggest I've heard for a b series is 84. Whatever, if you plan on boosting a lot say past 250 hp, yes upgraded pistons and rods are highly reccommend, otherwise you should be able to get away with the stock internals.

Re: New pistons

Yeah 85mm is an overbore of 4mm's. If you don't want to mess with new sleeves or bore'ing out the stock sleeves, then you need 81mm pistons. But sleeving is always a good idea (start out with a clean and flat surface)

Re: New pistons

you cant bore out the stock sleeves to 85mm. you need to have your block sleeved to go that high. the largest recommended bore is 86mm. but your stock block is 81mm, if you plan on putting new pistons maybe bore it .5 over so 81.5. but also if your going turbo it is not recommended to go over 84mm, the larger you go the less hp the sleeves can handle

Re: New pistons

that is a good quality piston, if you want to go 83mm you need to resleeve your b to get it that big safely, well also depends on if your going all motor or turbo

Re: New pistons

depends on how much power you plan on making, the bigger the bore the weaker the sleeve
