Got fired??

i went in to work last night (i work 10pm-6:30am) looked at the following weeks schedule, and had me "OFF" all week. ok, so i figure, talk to store manager at 7"30 when he gets there, its almost 11:00am (he hasn't gotten there yet) and i just recently walked in the door of my apartment. No-one even had the courtsey to give me a note saying clean out your locker, you dumb piece of crap loser. Of course the union offices are closed today. I have not had any manager approach me about my job performance, attitude, or appeareance (sp?). I have more senority than several people so, i am able to take their hours, but i don't know if it's a layoff, suspension, firing! I am in the process of purchasing a home at the moment and am more than freaked out.

ok, it's 12:00pm he's not there. i'm going to take a nap, nopefully have ANY news when I wake up

That sucks man. But don't go assuming the worst. Do you know of any reason why you would be fired/layed off? That sucks, especially if you are looking for a home.

just woke up. 7:30pm, no messages, or missed calls from the company. Oh well, time to pull the resume togerther, and prepare for a pay cut. 96civ, no reason for firing. if its a layoff, i'm suing, theres 8 people that should have been laid-off before i went under 40 hours for the week. well, buying a house is outta the question, for now. at least a closing date hesn't been officially set, i can back out of it, not losing too much $$.

Well that sucks, (obviously) but at least you haven't offically bought the house yet so you aren't totally screwed

If your realetor (sp?) is worth a crap, there should be a clause in the paper work that gives you an out in the event that you can not obtain suitable financing. Explain to the lender that you are now unemployed. They will certainly decline your loan and bingo, your out of your contract and will be entitled to a return of any earnest money you've deposited.

kok328, in most cases they keep the earnest money. In some states, they can even ask for more damages than just earnest money, but luckily not in Colorado, earnest money is kept, and thats the end of the situation. I woke up early this morning, talked to the assistant manager, she told me that she was hurrying to finish the schedule before the VP showed up. at least I still have a job, and going to get my house.

they were in a hurry, and just needed to get things posted. If they want to pay me another weeks vacation, thats just fine by me.

yeah. i should taken all week off, called the union, gotten paid for the week, saying they laid me off, while theres less senior people in the store

Dude, dont you have a steward or chairperson on site? I am a steward for the UAW and I would be in that managers office chewin some ass!

i had talked to the steward that morning, but the store manager had called in sick, assistant manager had day off. One of the head clerks (shift supervisor) called assistant manager at home, to get things clarified.
