cLutch won't go in when car is turned on

car honda civic crx hf 5spd, cable tranny, has tranny fluid, new clutch. When the car is turned offm it will go in gear. When turned on, it won't go in gear? Can not figue out whats wrong. Any help will be good.
No the car does not have a slave cylinder because its the hf model.

try start it in gear, if the car moves forward then you know it has to do with your clutch

you A) didnt line up your splines right. or B) put the clutch disk on backwords...yeah...that will do it

(just incase you didnt know...the side that "pops out" more should be facing you when you put the clutch disk on... the tranny will slide right on dont force it just wiggle and take your time...)

did it start doing this right after the clutch install? You need to go into it alittle more.

That happened to me after I changed my clutch, are you sure the cable is tightened enough?? I had to tighten the cable more than I thought was necessary, but that turned out to be the problem. Something to check.

thanks you guys i fixed it but the gears sound like they are grinding. Maybe i need now is a new tranny?

were they grinding before the install? Did you just buy the disc or did you get the whole kit? (disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing), etc?

Acrually i have no clue? the owner b4 my friend said that a new clutch was installed and they paid 900. It didnt go in gear so they solid it to my neighbor. Then thats when i took the car and got it to work. Thx to everyone on here. :} Thy nieghbor agreed to sell me the car this summer for really cheap too. So hopelly i will get it. Say something under 500.
