Jeep Grand Cherokee won't idle

I have a 1998 jeep Grand Cherokee after jump start due to weak battery it does not want to stay running. It acts like it is not getting gas. It will start but wont stay running. When you start it in the morning it acts like the battery is dead. If you take your foot off the gas it stalls. Is the battery causing the problem?

Help please.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee won't idle

If the battery is on it's last legs it may not be providing the correct voltage for the computers and electrical components..... they can take a lot of abuse given they live in the engine compartment but they get a bit picky when you feed them bum voltages..... IMHO, it's time to take a trip to WalMart for a new battery.

Re: car won't idle

I agree with the battery, if there is something wrong with the battery, you may have to hold the gas down and it will only idle with your foot down at about 1800 + rpm.
