Crunching noise???

Hi I just bought a 99 Grand Prix GTP with 89K and when I tak off it make a popping or crunching sound. What in the world could this be Please help. Thanks so much!!

gears grinding from transmission? I don't know really, but it doesn't sound good.

You might give us a little more information on your problem. Do you it feel through the steering or does it feel like the drivetrain. Is your tranny working OK? Any pull in the steering?
