Exclamation 87 Wrangler won't start

Hey everyone, Have a question on a 87 Wrangler 4x4 4.2L. The jeep would run for about 15 - 20 minutes then just die. It acted as if it was something with the ignition so I figured I would start with a control module. Put in a new controle module and now the thing won't even start. The motor turns over but I don't get any spark. I have put the old module back in because of the fact that it ran before with it and nothing. I have replaced the coil because of not getting any voltage out of it when cranking. Now I have power at the coil (Don't know how much) and when I turn the key to the on position after cranking on the motor the coil sends out two sparks... nut nothing when cranking. Any ideas are helpful ideas! Thanks in advance!

4.2 is carbureted. There is a big prob with the Carter carbs. You may need to get that thing rebuilt or replaced, venturis could be clogged. Try taking a small bit of gas and pour it down the carb or spray it with some cold start see if she fires up. Please use common sense though with the gas down the carb and have a fire extinguisher handy just in case.

Otherwise you could have a bad alternator or battery, but more than likely it's the carb.

thanks for the response Appleton Yes the 4.2 is a carbed motor but, the problem has been solved... as i expected from the start it was ignition related... hence not getting spark... Fuel had nothing to do with it. anyways to answer your ideas with a Carter carb. It has a Weber on it. Also, the problem lied in the pick up coil as i had stated before with the idea that it was a ignition based issue. but thanks anyways... Oh and love the timely response from everyone!!!
