Ive got a 2003 gt with a 5 speed that im taking to the track next weekend and am looking for some tips to get as fast as possible. i know of the obvious weight reductions and stuff like that. what i need to know is proper launch rpms? should i drop the pressure in the tires? proper shift points? the car is stock im just trying to get some base numbers so i know how im improving. any help would be appreciated. thanks, Eric

Re: Drag Strip Tips

lower the fronts, about 25psi.
up the rears to around 45psi.

you will have to almost feather the clutch, or you will just spin and get crappy 60ft. times. hold the launches at about 2300, and dont drop the clutch, let it out somewhat slowly. all while increasing throttle until you get that perfect balance where you are right at the edge of breaking loose, until you get to full throttle.

shift right before redline, and dont let off the gas once you have it at full. the clutch can put up with it for the small amount of time.

practice makes perfect on the launches.
