Headlight adjustment

My fire chief decided that my headlights were pointing too low last night, and he ever so nicely adjusted them for me. Well now they suck ass and blind people even on the dim setting.

Does anyone know what the factory adjustment is, or where I can find out what it is, or where I might can get it done?

Re: Headlight adjustment

If you open the hood and look down behind the headlights, you should see some screws. I think that's how you adjust them

Re: Headlight adjustment

When I swapped my lights out I went to the dealer and they said just aim forward cause they don't get the alighnment specs from the factory.

Doesn't the Haynes manual have something????

Good Luck!!!

Re: Headlight adjustment

Well dammit. I guess I'll wait till dark and shine them on the side of the house and see if I can't get them somewhat aligned.

Re: Headlight adjustment

I can tell you what the legal standard in Calif. was a few years back, but I'm not sure if they still use it. I believe it read that the left lamp would point straight out and hit the ground at about 50 yards out. the right lamp would then be aimed to hit the gound just to the right (about 1-2 feet or so) of it at the same distance...but I could be wrong. Man I haven't had to deal with that in about 25-30 years or so!!! You also might try a google search on it, but I believe striaght out and just down is the current standard.

Re: Headlight adjustment

What i have done in the past was go out onto a dark stretch of road and adjust them likw that. That way you can see where they are shining on the roadway or if they are too high. Aim the drivers side light to the right a bit as to not blind oncoming drivers. From past expierence the dirvers side is usually too far into the center anyhow. Then you could use the wall method just to check that they are both level.
