The Borla is expensive but sounds good. Go with your own gut feeling. Most of the guys on the forum will tell you that a CATBack exhaust system is a waste of money. I try to stay neutral in these matters. I'm not for CATBack systems nor against. Another alternative brand would be SLP. See link below. Good luck. http://www.3800performance.com/Merch...gory_Code=ES_H ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.

Re: 98 gtp exhaust system
Just get borla mufflers, not the entire catback. Use the money saved to buy some headers. You wont be disappointed.

Rip, isn't most of the plumbing on those CATBack systems just 2.25"? ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.

Re: 98 gtp exhaust system
Catbacks are too expensive either way. I bought the MSP system back in the day and I wish someone would have told me what I'm telling this guy. I couldve bought headers for what that system cost me.
headers+highflow cat+cutout = perfect |

Re: Re: 98 gtp exhaust system
I'm sure I made the right decision on passing on a CATBack system and going with headers. I not interested in sound only performance benefits. I run custom 2.5 inch plumbing from the woven flex joint, downpipe into a Magnaflow Hi-Flow CAT with 2.5 in/outlets, 2.5 inch including the Y replacing u-bend and resonator into the stock mufflers.
Most of the canned CATback systems have 2.25 inch plumbing which doesn't make any sense to me considering the big buck expenditure. The headers are unequivocally the best mod you can do to the exhaust system. ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.

If you desire to get rid of the u-bend on your current stock system provisions will still have to be made to delete it. Here's a pic of the u-bend: http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.m...ory_Code=GPEXH Have you considered replacing the stock CAT convertor with a hi-flow CAT or do you plan on keeping the stock CAT. The CATBack systems do not come with a hi-flow CAT. Has to be purchased separately. ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.

i havent really thought about it but i guess it does make sense to get everything and than have it all put on from the headers to the tips all in one big job than 3 or 4 little ones......would i still need some kind of modification tho??
