SMOKe?
Hey guys my car just got a rebuilt engine put into it and it runs good and all but it smokes kinda bad when u give it gas and even after u turn of the car it smokes from the exhaust pipes fro a minute, and it smells kind off bad to my buddy says its proboly just old fluids just burning up from sitting so long but i dont know..... any ideas

Who rebuilt the motor? What color is the smoke? Yes a new rebuild will smoke a lot when first started but it should clear up after a few minutes. If it's blue smoke it's oil. If it's black, it's an overly rich fuel mixture. White smoke is coolant.

How long ago was it rebuilt? Bad white smoke means water or anti freeze is getting oniop of the pistons. Possible causes of this could be a crracked head, cracked block, or possibly a cracked intake.

I was told it was rebuilt about 1 year ago and when my mechanic took it apart he saw alot of the stuff was in great condition and alot of new stuff but when we finaly turned it over it cranked up fine but the white smelly smoke started coming out when u would accelerate someone told me it was proboly coolant but im not to big on mechanics so im confused.

White smoke is antifreeze but it might not be that serious it could be a head gasket problem or an intake gasket problem. Key word being could. Start by checking your spark plugs, if some of them have some nasty crap on them that will give you an idea of were to start. However, if you are not very good at mechanics have a mechanic friend help you or take it to a shop you trust i think the engine is going to have to come a part

As a last resort fix that may buy you some time, add a package of Solder Seal Block Saver to the radiator. It has to be block saver. Most older parts stores carry it, you have to ask for it at the counter. I've used it before and sometimes it works, for a few bucks you have nothing to lose.
