I have a friend looking to buy and build a 6 bolt, but my question is the n/a just as strong as the turbo motors or is there a big difference? I know that compression ratio, oil pan, and the intake r different but like i said he plans to tear it down and build it up so that is not that big of a issue. Thanks for ur help. Eric

Well if he wants a NT 4g63, I think it would work, but if he gets a NT engien from a 95-99 (420a), getting it into his car will be a bitch, unless of course he already has a NT.

Re: 6 bolt question
Many poeple use NT bolcks to build up turbo 6 bolt motors, if thats what you are asking. THe only difference I am aware of is the lack of oil squirters.

Re: 6 bolt question
Piston top cooling... There is a lot of debate about wether or not they are necessary, but the general concensus is that the mitsu engineers put them there for a reasons, might as well use them. Plenty of high HP motors don't run them though, but then again they are not expected to acrue six digit mileage either.

Re: 6 bolt question
I thought it was something like that. I also understand why there would be a debate on the necessity of the squirters. I was pleased to find out they weren't in the NT block.

Re: 6 bolt question
ya that's what i was trying to find out if u could boost on the n/t crank and be ok. I guess he has a line up on a n/t 6 bolt complete minus manifold for $300. He has a 97 gst with 70k that is just burning oil like it was going out of style and has a nasty lifter tap. Seeing as he wants to build the motor he figure's to do it right the first time. I know gm cars better myslef but always looking to have fun and go fast in anything. Thanks for all ur help

Re: 6 bolt question
Its really up in the air about squirters. People talk about that all the fucking time. Bottem line, they are their to cool off the crown of the piston to eliminate hot spots to prevent pre-ignition. Race pistons have special crown finishes to prevent hotspots from happening, so its up in the air for typical street/drag cars. Autocross or any long endurance engines are a diffrent story. I personally like the idea.
