Fuel pump sometimes not coming on

Hi everybody! I know there's been a lot of talk about this here and i have read some of the older threads, but i think my problem may be a bit different. I'm trying to be as thorough as i can with my description about the problem so that it would be easier to rule out what could and could not be wrong.
Two times now i haven't been able to start up my 1993 Taurus 3.0 because of fuel pump not coming on.
The first time was a few days ago after work. Had to call somebody to come and pick me up. Later that evening i went back to try a few tricks, but, before that, just in case, i decided to turn on the ignition to see if the pump would turn on now.
I could hear that humming sound and the engine was running again and i was happy.

The second time was this morning when the fuel pump failed to power up again. Drove another car to work.
After work i tried to start up the car hoping that it would start normally like couple of days ago. But it didn't. Then i came to this forum to look for possible solutions and similar experiences. After which i found about about that fuel pump relay, and it being inside that CCRM box above the radiator. Went outside again and took a look at it. I saw this stiff black wire(not that wide main socket going into CCRM) coming out of CCRM. It's probably some power or ground wire, because it also seems to be connected to car's body. It has a plastic socket in the middle that breaks in half.
Well, i disconnected that and connected it again. Went inside the car to see if now the fuel pump would turn on, and it did. And so far it has been every time that i've used the car today.
I figured disconnecting that wire must have turned off the power from that CCRM box, thus resetting it.
Can't be sure if it's gonna keep working though.

Judging from my description here what could be wrong? If anyone has any ideas, then please present them.

seems like maybe you hit the nail on the head. i have seen more than a few tauruses start right up after a no fuel pressure condition by simply tapping on the ccrm, and then like magic, the fuel pump comes alive.im sure there are plenty tauruses of that year at the local salvage yards where you can pick up a used one.
