84 cutlass not getting fuel

hey im back again right after i fixed my cranking problem im back with more ok here it goes i have the 84 cutlass 5.0 in it and i just put a new fuel pump in it but its not getting fuel to the carb and keep in mind that it has a fuel cell and the fuel line is ran from the trunk of the car to the pump but either way its not getting fuel to the pump and the line is brand new so is the pump but i didnt rebuild the motor so idk if its the same concept as a small block chevy where it has the rod to move the fuel pump or what but we cant seem to feel one idk if your suppose to feel it or what but i can feel the timing chain so can you help me out and give me a idea on what to do soon PLZ i have a race saturday and i got school tommorw so i dont have alot of time help me out plz thanks alot

we also got that problem fixed i geuss the guy that rebuilt the motor put the fuel pump on upside down so it was sitting in the car like a chevy motor would but it needed to be on another way we got it fixed it runs good
