95 conti, radio does not work

My 95 conti had the polarity reversed when a battery was changed.(painful story) A lot of the damage has been rectified (thanks Steve!) and the last remaining problem is the radio. It does not work, at all.
I replaced a relay that goes between the amp and subwoofer in the back and that was not the problem. Is it possible that one of those components was simply burned out?
Is there a way to check?
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
Jim

Hey Jim,
Glad to hear you've made progress with the other systems.
The section re Audio Systems Testing is HUGE but very specific.
How come you don't accept my offer to send you this 1996 Service CD?

Here's the main index in the diagnosis B section (no power) :
Keep in mind, this is just the index, and it's the B index, it runs A through M for "Sound System Function" so it's impractical for me to even attempt to reproduce the complete diagnosis procedures here.

Here's what leads us to section B:

Audio System Does Not Power Up While Ignition Switch is in ACC or RUN--No Display and No Audio

Possible Source(s):
  • Open front control unit fuses or power/ground connections.
  • Open rear chassis unit fuses or power/ground connection.
  • Circuit 1068 (LG/BK) open or short.
  • Circuit 832 (LB/PK) open or short between front control unit and rear chassis unit.
  • Circuit 833 (T) open or short between front control unit and rear chassis unit.
Action(s) to take:
* GO to «Pinpoint Test B

«1996 Continental Table of Contents»
«Group 15: AUDIO SYSTEMS»
«Section 15-00: Audio Systems--Service»
«DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»

Pinpoint Tests -- Sound System Function

PINPOINT TEST B: AUDIO SYSTEM DOES NOT POWER UP WHILE IGNITION SWITCH IS IN ACC OR RUN--NO DISPLAY AND NO AUDIO
  • B1: CHECK FRONT CONTROL UNIT SUPPLY
  • B2: CHECK FUSE 2 OUTPUT
  • B3: CHECK FUSE 2 CONTINUITY
  • B4: CHECK SWITCHED SUPPLY
  • B5: CHECK FUSE 5 OUTPUT
  • B6: CHECK FUSE 5 CONTINUITY
  • B7: CHECK CIRCUIT 1002 (BK/PK) SUPPLY
  • B8: CHECK FUSE 4 OUTPUT
  • B9: CHECK FUSE 4 CONTINUITY
  • B10: CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) CONTINUITY
  • B11: ALL CHECK CIRCUIT 694 (BK/LG) CONTINUITY
  • B12: CHECK REAR CHASSIS UNIT SUPPLY
  • B13: CHECK FUSE 15 OUTPUT
  • B14: CHECK FUSE 15 CONTINUITY
  • B15: CHECK CIRCUIT 694 (BK/LG) REAR CHASSIS UNIT CONNECTOR PIN C1-13, GROUND FOR OPEN
  • B16: CHECK CIRCUIT 694 (BK/LG) REAR CHASSIS UNIT PIN C1-12, GROUND FOR OPEN
  • B17: CHECK COMMUNICATION LINK
  • B18: CHECK DIGITAL AUDIO COMPACT DISC PLAYER FOR INTERNAL SHORT

Each one
of these B** checks leads to a yes or no, which leads to the next procedure dependant on your answer.

Please allow me to send you this CD

PM me a mailing address, that's all.
