Question CAI... Which one is best?

I'm looking to put a CIA kit in my 00 GT (stock/no mods), can anyone suggest which one is the best for the $? Or are any worth it? I've been looking at a Thrasher and a K&N filter charger, are these valid options? Also, if I choose one, I understand installation is quite simple, but do I need to do an supplemental mods? Thanks,

Re: CAI... Which one is best?

IF you decide to buy one, get one that isolates the air filter element from underhood heat, not just an open element type. The K&N units are pretty nice, but you have to be careful not to over-oil the filters, because the oil can ruin your MAF sensor, which are about $160. No supplimental mods are necessary, but I have found on a non-modded engine, CAI are not worth the effort. Gains are minimal, and the risk of damaging expensive parts like the MAF are just not worth it. Just my

Here's a link to one of the most popular air box mods for a GT:

I agree with Rich, a CAI won't do that much for you without other significant mods. Save your money.

Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers,
3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT,
u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB,
TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103,
Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt,
Nitto NT555R Drag Radials

Re: CAI... Which one is best?

I plan on going with the K&N air charger kit myself, I see them on ebay for $215(+ $10 shipping) all the time...

a CAI, 190 degree thermostat, exhaust and tires are the first thing I plan on doing
