Cruise Control

I have an Ford E-150 2004 5.4 Liter engine. Just recently the cruise control at times won't engage. Will have to stop van turn off and re-start it and then the cruise control will work. Or it will work when first started up and if I stop at store and get on highway it won't work. This is an intermittent problem. Has anyone else had this problem before. and what were the action to fix it? The dealership has replace the switches on the steering wheel two times and thatr hasn't solved the problem.

Re: Cruise Control

The cruise will not work if the brake lights are stuck on, or if the "clock spring" assembly IN the steering column is damaged or worn.

Re: Re: Cruise Control

Ford did issue a recall regarding the cruise control on many of it's trucks, you may want to see if your vehicle falls within the recall. Basically it stated that there was a fire hazard from the cruise control. At this point they are merely disconnecting the cruise control until replacement parts become available. If you continue to have problems, you may want to check out www.michiganlemon.com Good luck.
