My Modded Neon

I have a 2000 sohc neon, "modded", cold air intake, obx headers, fuel regulator, IAT chip, cool shoot kit, short shifter, Bilge Blower ( on intake), & accel 30 lb injectors. I still have a problem beating a GS-R, my 0-60 is well in between 7-8 sec. Is something slowing me down, or just need more modds. Im about to put an underdrive pulley, & cam gear. Hope that will do it, I also heard that you can get more power out of a sohc, dont know about that, cause dohc seem to blow up easier, because of higher rpm range. Well anybody out their help me out with some info.

In advance, Thanks.

I would lose the "IAT chip", the Bilge Blower, and the 30lb injectors. The "chip" is worthless, the blower will actually restrict airflow (not to mention if it breaks, all the plastic pieces will be inside your engine), and you don't have enough mod's to justify the 30lb injectors. I would also suggest buying your mods from proven places like Modern Performance or Howell Automotive instead of eBay. Do you have a true CAI or is just a stock replacement? 2nd gen upgrades usually run in this order:

1)CAI
2)Header
3)Exhaust
4)UDP
5)Cam

After that you start looking at stiffer motor mounts, maybe an MSD ignition, then if you want to get really wild you go with pistons, rods, and other stuff.

Re: My Modded Neon

From the sounds of your mods, I would think you have potential of being slower than stock. The only thing I would keep would be the header (maybe) and start over with high quality proven mods. Lose the 17" wheels in a hurry.

Re: My Modded Neon

My CAI is an Injen, I have purchased an AEM cam gear, also a cosmo racing UDP, I heard that stock exhaust is ok for thecar, sometimes even better.

The injen intake is the only true HP mod you have done to your car. The stock exhaust does flow well, so you may want to hold off on that. I would still lose the 30lb injectors, you aren't running a turbo, so you don't need them. They may actually be hurting your performance. Lose the "supercharger" bilge fan also!

So when I get the AEm cam gear on, & the UDP, will also be true HP.

The cam gear helps you with tuning your cam. Do you have an aftermarket cam like Crane? Here is an article that will help you...

The UDP doesn't add HP, but rather frees up HP. It will turn your accesories slower therefore allowing more power elsewhere. It is also lighter which means the engine doesn't require as much power to turn it.
