Question 95 Villager Code 51 fuel injector signal fault

Just bought this van and the CEL has been flashing on and off so i pulled the codes. Got:

34 Knock sensor
51 Fuel injector signal fault

I have pretty good mechanical experience as i grew up in a salvage yard, but i have no clue what a Fuel injector signal fault is supposed to mean. Im guessing whatever is making that code is triggering the Knock sensor also.

It does idle rough too, and just had new plugs and wires put on by previous owner that was supposed to fix the rough idle. (He paid $300+ for someone to hook it up to their code reader and put new plugs and wires on.) and is still idles rough.

Any help would be appreciated.

Start the van up and get it to normal temp. Remove one plug and see if the van shakes more or stays the same. Replace and retry on the next plug till all six have been tested. If you remove one and the van stays at the same idle then you will need to remove that fuel injector and replace it. The knock sensor is not a problem since it is being caused by the rough idle in the intial problem code fuel injector fault. You have a rock solid vehicle that was not pampered but still it will live on if you do it.

Lightbulb

So basically a "Fuel injector signal fault" means "I have a bad injector fix me" if i understand what your saying.

Ill try it ASAP.

and just FYI it was pampered by the previous owner (My fiances (<== is that spelled right?) Father) But whoever owned it before that im not sure. They had very few problems with it and now i get lots of problems. (CV boot Ripped, Fuel Filler recall not done, CEL coming on, Stupid light bar bulbs are burnt out and cost $10 a piece.)

Anyway thanks for the info, ill update when i try it.

Anything yet. The cv boot is minimal at 8 bucks for the boot. The light bar you can live without. CEL have autoozone check it for free and post the codes and fuel filler recall can still be done at the dealer but if it "AIANT BROK DON FIS IT"

Sorry i havent posted anything, ive been quite busy so i havent done anything with the injectors yet. (still runs and drives (if it ain't broke dont fix it )). But i will try to get to it sooner or later.

i did put a new boot on though, and it still clicks. I have since bought a hanes manual which tells me that i was supposed to take the inner cv apart and slip the boot on that way, oops. (then why do they give you a new clip for the outer cv and no clamps for the inner boot with the boot kit if it supposedly is not supposed to come apart?...) so i probably screwed it up when i hit it with a large hammer many times to get the cv off the shaft and then took it all apart to clean it and didnt mark how it was together. Oh well i guess all i can do is learn from my mistakes. only $90 for a rebuilt shaft anyway (should have just got a rebuilt right away it would have been a lot less trouble).

AND i also went to local ford dealer for the filler recall because every time i fill it up it smells like gas the rest of the day. They told me it hasnt been done yet but they didnt have the kit so they would call me when the kit came in (that was about 3 weeks ago and still no call), i guess they dont want my bussiness.

Re: 95 Villager Code 51 fuel injector signal fault

Look on the bright side. You can still drive it and the dealer gave a hope of fixing a problem for free. I would suggest you get that axle fixed FAST. You would not like the repair cost if it did break at 55MPH. The fuel injector I would try adding a bottle of Chevron fuel injector cleaner its available everywhere and even wholesale place like sam's and etc. Do this first, disconnect the battery terminals or go to a autozone and have them erase the code. If not use the battery terminal thing to clear the code. Add the bottle b4 you fill up the tank and see what happens. Sometimes these vans just get symptoms like the hic ups they come when they want and just like that there gone

Re: 95 Villager Code 51 fuel injector signal fault

Hello Friends,

I have a 1994 Nissan quest with the same problems: knock sensor and code 51.

But unfortuanatly I have spent almost $1000 so far by replcaing the knock sensor and all fuel injectors and the code 51 is still there.
Ihave no Idea please help.

PS: if I park my car under the sun so that it get hot Ithe check engine light goes away. as soon as I park my car in shadow for an hour or so, it's back.

thanks
