86.5 supra problems

my 86.5 supra has been acting up lately. i guess i saw it coming but its really hard to determine what the hell is wrong with it when it didnt even come with any manuals and i think im a little lazy on buying one. there is a light on the console that shows a car with (what i think) brake lights(??) on the back of the car that keeps turning on randomly. im not sure what it means. my car just got out of the shop twice and im not a mechanic.... i was thinking it could be just short but since it keeps having problems, im not so sure. PLEASE HELP ME! im so confused....

That would be the taillight failure light, just means you have a bulb out back there. Commonly what happens is yellow relay box gets filled with water and shorts out. Also some have had trouble with the ground wires inside the tail lights coming loose. First of coarse verify that there are no bulbs burnt out, both stages of brake lights, turn signals, liscense plate lights. The check the ground screws and the yellow box, not much else to it really.

The dash light on could be a few things. 1) there is a bad rear bulb. Have someone hits the brakes while you see which light is not coming on or just pull them out one at the time to see which one is blown. Also check the parking lights. 2) It could also be that there is a ground fault in the wiring mainly in the bulb socket. Sometimes if water is getting into the sockets it prevents good contact.
