Re: oil pressure gauge...

the connection on the engine is relative to the oil pump... so therefore, unless you get an engine that had the oil pump and belts, and whatnot on the same side, you will either have to disregard the sensor and gauge, or extend the wiring... I've never even heard of this being done... but it seems that you could simply splice some wire into the existing wire... and make a connection... IDK... just a suggestion, I'll get back to you when I've had more time to read and think...

Re: oil pressure gauge...

lol, I guess you could do that... but it doesn't seem like extending the length of wire would be too hard...
to test the theory, you could buy a length of wire, strip the ends, and make the two ends touch ( a temporary connection) fire up the car, and see what happens

Re: oil pressure gauge...

If it makes you feel any better, mine doesn't work either and I didn't even do a swap. I tried looking at the lines and sensors but everything was just too short. ;o/

yes, extending the wiring will work. I did it on another 3000GT. just get some wire, cut the exsisting wire 4 or 5 inches before the haness/sensor and bingo.

So wait, your buddy's wires were short too? Hmm....maybe I'll try this then since my wires seem short. What gauge wire did you use?

Re: oil pressure gauge...

yeah, I was gonna suggest cutting in front of the harness/connector... that way you wouldn't have to fool around with trying to make something else work... haven't had a chance to look at it yet though... let me know how it turns out...

While we're on the subject of the oil pressure gauge... I've recently developed a bearing/pump problem under the hood... I think maybe I need to replace the water pump and oil pump... There are two distinct markings on the pressure gauge... when idling, is it fine for the reading to be lower than that bottom marking (I b/l they mark "normal" pressure range)... b/c mine drops every now and then... and oil burns fast in car (no blow-by that I can tell, no real smoke out exhaust, except when car was running rich (TPS sensor was screwed up) )
