Hello thanks for reading this... i'm working on a 86 monte carlo with a 305, 4bbl, atuomatic transmission, rwd. Ok now the problem is when you put it in gear it will go in it you can feel it hit everytime but when you try to go it won't unless you rev it way up then it barely moves as if it was low on tranny fluid but i checked that and it was perfect. The owner changed the filter and fluid thinking this would help but it didn't at all so i was thinking the torque converter possible took a crap?? it's a 200?Tranny is not the one you have to adjust the bands at fluid change. could you help me what do you think the problem is or what to do???
thank a lot |

Its coming out one way or the other, then it can be determined what is wrong.

low pressure problem
Did you check the tranyy pressure? If the pressure is to low then you reving the engine builds the pressure up and the car becomes to move. I would also check for a blocked or bent line from the vacuum modulator to the intake manifold.

i didn't see any bent lines when i removed them from the tranny(fluid ones)
the tranny is a th200 with the four wire plug on the driver side is that for the torque converter? and no moduler on the side has the kick down cable on passenger side going to the carb. thanks alot for helping me on this keep replying ideas please |

Re: tranny or converter junk??????
how many miles are on the transmission. If there's quite a bit, then you may have a band or clutch slipping.
