AC Orifice Tube
Can anyone tell me where the AC orifice tube is located on my 2000 S10 2.2L? I've replaced the compressor and accumulator. Now I'm left with a $2 part that is keeping me from having the system recharged!

Re: AC Orifice Tube
This tube sprays the liquid refrg. into the evaporator so it's located very close to this core which is inside the firewall. Should see a connection in the small AC pipe right near the hvac box at the firewall, unscrew the compression nut and pull the pipes apart, very carefully pull out the tube/screen and note how it's oriented. It doesn't look like it goes back in the way it does, so check it when you take the old one out. Put a new o-ring on the fitting if you can.

Re: AC Orifice Tube
not sure where the orifice tube is located, but, an accumulator on a non charged system for more then a couple of days ruins it, the desicant fills with moisture, so it no longer absorbs what is in the system naturally over time

The orrifice tube is on the lower line where the dryer meets the evap in the firewall. Disconnect the line and pull it out..

tom3 - Thanks for the very precise instructions!
rlith - Thanks dmbrisket - With the help from above, the system was uncharged for a day and a half. I think it's fine. |

Re: AC Orifice Tube
youll be fine, and most tec;s will tell you that you will be fine, but industry standard is that if a system is down for more then a 24 hour perioud, an accumulater must be sold for warrenties to be valid
