idle problems/stereo wiring problems

Okay, to introduce myself, I have recently purchased a 1992 Elantra, that is really decent for the price I paid, the only thing I have had to replace so far are the tires, and a headlamp assembly(previous owner ran into a pole). The two problems I still have are these:

1. When I start up the car it idles really fast, and lurches into gear when I put it into drive, even waiting for it to warm up and stop revving so high, after it warms up, it stalls when I am at a stoplight. I have tried finding an answer online, and don't have the money for a Haynes manual until next week, but being a delivery driver, I would like to take care of the problem now. I have read it may be the idle control valve is broken, and while I cannot find a picture of it, the pictures from other cars have a similiar part that has two hoses going next to the battery, that are supposed to be connected to the a part behind the ECU. these tubes were so corroded, I felt them to see if the angle adapter would slide back in 3 inches of tubing crumbled to the touch. I wish I could put in a diagram, and this is the best I can describe it, I will be going to a parts store tomorrow(finally a day off) but I was wondering if anyone had a diagram online of that old an engine so I don't feel like a complete idiot. The tubes go from what looks like the vacuum control( first foreign car), one has a yellow stripe, one has a green, they go into a part that has a coil on the firewall side of the engine, the part is connected to the air filterat one end, and doesn't have any wires that I know of, except two wires that go into a clip bolted to the firewall, and those wires have been cut. they do not attach to anything except the clip.

2. I cannot find a stereo wire color guide for the year of my elantra, the dealer in town told me I have to buy a manual or pay them to fix it, they will not tell me what colors go to what. I have read through the forums and the two threads that have answers, do not havee correlatting colors to my car( they are both newer models than mine)

Any help on these problems would greatly be appreciated, I am a delivery driver, so I don't have a butt ton of money to dump into my car unless it is absolutely neccessary, but then the gas I put into it because of the whole double footing the beast when I'm at stoplights, is getting annoying, and I will need new brakes because of it soon.

Hey. I'm new to this DIY stuff, but I did find a site that lists diagrams and instructions for Hyundai's

http://www.hmaservice.com

you have to create an account, and they'll email you your login and password, but it's worth the minute or two it takes. Even lets you view a printable version and print so you can carry the diagrams to your car. Hope this helps.
