Rear power vent window
I need to get to the motor. I have read to remove the trim and that it snaps. Can the trim be removed by pulling it away from the body? Or do I need to trigger snap release?
Thanks for your help. |

Rear Vent Window Motors
What year of van do you have?
I replaced the rear vent window motors in my 1998 T&C LX AWD. Fortunately, I replaced both at the same time (both failed within two months of each other). The two long & narrow trim panels across the top and bottom of the hatch opening are snap fit and you can pull them off with your hands. The two side panels, however, are held in with screws and snaps. You will need to unbolt the rear seat belt anchors at the roof. You don't need to completely remove the side panels, just pull them away far enough to access the motors and mounting bolts. You will first need to pull the retaining clip to disconnect the actuating arm from window. Then pull the arm straight out of the motor. After you pull away the side panels, you will see the motor is held in with two bolts. This job took me no more than one hour to complete. I bought replacement motors from the dealer for approximately $60.00 each plus tax. This was two years ago. Good luck with your motor replacement. |

Re: Rear Vent Window Motors
Thanks for the info. I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. Method access to the window motor should be the same as your '98 T & C.

One more thing, you will need to remove a plastic A/C duct on the passenger side to get at the motor. I forgot about this until later.
