is this a good deal?

well I have always wanted a camaro and now it is about time for me to buy one, I have decided on a 4th gen lt1. I was at criswell last week looking at an SSR when I see this camaro:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ng=&cardist=10

my brother, who drives a 2000 z28, says it is way too much for a '93 and it is about $500 over Blue Book, my friends say it is a buy but i'm not going to take advice from a focus owner who thinks a burnout involves the e-brake and someone who has a golf without a Transmission, so what do you all think?

Re: is this a good deal?

That is a little high for this area, but not outrageous. If you could get them to kick in any kind of warranty, I'd say go for it.

Re: is this a good deal?

i agree thats too much....back last summer i tried to get a loan for 6k for a 94 z28 that had dyno sheets with 470 hp...it was freaking awesome but that bank didnt want to give a loan for that much because the blue book was a lot lower than that...with the bank not wanting to make money it definately wasnt worth that to them so i think paying 5900 for a 93 is way to much too.....you can find one a lot cheaper than that or atleast newer for the same price.

Yeah.. a little too much, if you can get them down to 4500 or so.. then it's a buy.

The mods lower the value of the car.

Re: is this a good deal?

I'd definately have to agree with everyone else on the price being too high. But I'd also like to suggest that you try to find a 95 or higher camaro. The 93-94's had a non-vented optispark which allowed moisture to collect inside it and thus, make it more prone to going out. So if you could find yourself a 95 or above, those came with vented optisparks, which would save you alot of headaches. Especially with it being your first camaro.

Re: is this a good deal?

thanks for the advice i'll try to find a 96 for under $5000, most lt1 camaros seem to be over priced, I found a good one but it was $6500

I thought about geting a v6 but I know someone with a 3.4 and its just not enough power

3.8's pack a punch, enough to lite up some tires and eat up rice.

Re: is this a good deal?

well I remember this time my brother raced a v6 camaro at a red light he only pressed the pedal half way and it took the v6 20 seconds to catch up at the next red light

also I have not got a chance to drive a lt1 but I have driven a 96 v6 and an ls1 how might I expect an lt1 to drive compared to them?

An Lt1 is just a littler slower than an Ls1. Give the LT1 some mods and you'll be taking them on too.
