Tire size with leveling kit - '03 Z-71
I have an '03 Z-71 with stock( Z-71/17" ) rims and a 2"+/- front leveling kit (torsion bar repositioning cams).
Has anyone had experience with the maximum tire size that would work with this set-up? THANKS!!! |

285/75/16 would be the biggest I would run since those will not scrub and won't absolutely kill your gas mileage. How is the ride with those keys? I just have my bars cranked without the keys and am wondering if the ride would be any better with the keys.

Re: Tire size with leveling kit - '03 Z-71
I've not yet installed them on my newly aquired '03 Z71, (that was the reason for the tire size question)but on my '00 Z71, when I had the bars cranked w/o the cams the ride was really harsh & actually tore out a shock when offroading when the front end popped up - there's just no travel left.
WITH the cams one is able to increase the height adjustment and still maintain some travel. At 1.5" or so the ride is stiffer (to me this is a GOOD thing) but not annoying. On the '00 I was runing 32/11.5/15 on a 10" wheel. Also, for anyone out there looking for stock (Z71)tires... I have 4 Michelin 265-70-17's (they are the Radial LT's (with white letters, if you want them)) with 4000 miles that were on an '03 Z71 when I bought it. I'm near Phoenix and would want about 375 for the set. kurt |
