Very Funny story

So this girl i know drives a white 97/98 spyder "GST", Ever since i told her that her car was a turbo, she thinks it is the shit. So the other day i am chillin at my buddies, and she pulls up, and says that her temp gauge is way high, and she doesnt know whats going on. so my friend, who is training to be a mechanic, pops the hood, and it turned out to be some thermostat problem. Well after we fix it up, We are looking at the engine bay, and there is no turbo. LOL. turns out she bought a pos GS Spyder with a leaky top, many mechanical errors, and a GST sticker on it for $8k!

It took you that long to figure out it was not a turbo.....???

I think 99% of people on here would have noticed it as soon as the hood was popped.

Re: Very Funny story

Just looking at the engine should give it away. I mean the turbo engine is on the right and non turbo on the left. The non turbo has DOHC written on it and the turbo one has a Mitsubishi 16 valve written on it. It probably takes one second to figure out if its a turbo or non turbo

They both have DOHC written on them.

Dosn't matter which version of the valve cover...they all say DOHC.

Find a pic of one without it.

Re: Very Funny story

The engine bays do look completely different. You can tell by other factors too. Like the sound of the car for one. An easy way to tell is to look at the passenger side bumper's opening. On turbos it's always open, on n/a it's not. And even if it is, just bend down and you can easily see the intercooler. The rims should have given it away too.

Re: Very Funny story

Man, women cant drive . WHAT, she bought a car and she didnt even know it was turbo or not... wtf ? I mean, didnt she even check if it was in an accident or any problems with it ? Wow she is either very naive and believed the person who sold her the car or she is very stupid and needs help. Sometimes I wounder why chicks are such bad drivers ... I have been hit 3 times, 3rd time my car was totalled. All three accident were not my fault and all three were caused by a females. I am scared when I see a lady driving near me cause I know she might wanna check if her make up is OK and hit me or worse.

I think this girl got ripped off very bad. I mean, she payed 8K for a car thats not even what its suppost to be. If I were her, I want my money back or something because 8K sounds a little steep for a GS. Oh I forgot to ask, is she hot ??

Re: Very Funny story

The GS Spyder is a 4g64, SOHC. The engine bay looks very, very empty compared to a 4g63 stuffed turbo motor, shouldve been very easily recognizable.

But she' a girl; you got to give it to her that she atleast read her temp guage right (instead of confusing it for a volt guage, or something randomly silly like that, lol)
