94 2.2 disable auto lock

My 94 Cav loves to lock her doors, just does not like to unlock em.

Does anyone know how to disable to autolock feature, or even the whole power locking system?

you could cut the power, but you also could just pull the fuse/relay.

Re: 94 2.2 disable auto lock

Somewhere there is supposed to be a brain box that controls that. There are power input lead in,speed sensor lead in and door lock out.I would imagine its somewhere behind the cluster, but I have yet to dig into it.
GM put that in there because of their horrid door mounting of the seatbelt reel and anchor. If the door opened up,the occupant wouldnt be belted and could be ejected out the door.If the door is locked, theoretically it cant be opened accidentally or even if the car took a large impact. It also couldnt be opened from the outside by rescue personell in case of fire.A poor GM design, they learned by copying 1980s VW Rabbits and Jettas seat belt arrangement that made the belts "easier" to use, without having to buckle/unbuckle belts when entering/exiting.

Believe it or not, I get an insurance deduction due to these being considered automatic restraints. I would leave the locks as is, however I often have to fight the car to get out as the locks (and the "mind of its own locking computer" no longer function properly

Pulling the fuse is the easiest and least destructive way. In case you don't know where the fuse box is, look under the dash on the driver side right next to the door. The fuse for the door lock should have some initials by it stating something to the tune of 'lock'. I'm pretty sure it has one b/c I think I've had to replace it b4.

Hell, MY problem is that one will lock and the other won't. Crazy, huh?
