Vibration in Trailblazer
I have an 04 Chevy Trailblazer 5.4 V8 Engine. When I am at an idle, or low speeds, you can feel the car vibrating. This happens intermittently, so sometimes it happens and other times it won't. I have taken it to the two different dealers for a total of three occasions, and each time, the service technicians have told me that the vibration is a "natural characteristic" of the car and that there is no fix. I have told them that on a new car, this is unacceptable. I then went into talks with GM and they too have said that this is natural and that they can not fix it and will not replace the car.
Has anybody else seen this or have had problems with this vibration. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!! |

Re: Vibration in Trailblazer
Is this an ENGINE vibration, or a VEHICLE vibration? Does the thing have to be rolling to vibrate? Or just have the engine running? In Park/Neutral or always in gear? Make any difference if you are braking or turning?

Re: Re: Vibration in Trailblazer
Not sure what type of vibration it is. I am thinking it is an engine vibration. This is because the engine must be running and it can happen when the car is not moving. The vibration is there when the car is still or below 5 mph. It is not dependent upon the gear, i.e. it happens in park as well as drive.
Thanks for your questions and help! |

If so where do you feel it or hear it? All vehicles have charateristic vibrations that are inherant to that model. Unfortunate part is those type of vibrations cannot be corrected. One thing that kind of sticks out is that this may be a firing frequency vibration (natural engine vibration) that is being transmitted to the chassis by a rock stuck in the trans mount. Have seen this a couple times where the rock will move and the vibration is intermittant.

Re: Vibration in Trailblazer
I think part of it is the new engine having not being broken in, but even then I dont think there should be very much vibration. Might want to ask the dealer since you are in warrenty.

Re: Vibration in Trailblazer
I have LT trailblazer 2006. I have the same problem. My friend was checking this car because he wanted to buy. He put his feet on the brake and accelerator in the same time thrice. There was no vibration even before he checked it.. After this vibration has started while driving at low speed and some time at parking. He told me he is checking the mounts. The vibration in the car seats, steering, pad and accelerator at low speed. It happens at very low speed i.e. 15-30 MPH. It disappears some time also, i don't know what could be the probable cause?. What disturbance can be caused when you push accelerator and brake in the same time which can produce vibration afterwards?

Re: Vibration in Trailblazer
I would first check the transmission fluid level and condition. It should be reddish/pinkish and not opaque or have a burned smell. If it is showng age, change it and the filter, run it for 100 miles, then do another drain and fill (leave the filter). Another 100 miles, and drain/fill again. This will exchange almost all the old fluid with new.
Also, GM has discontinued recommending DEXRON III fluid, replacing it with DEXRON VI. If you have access to a scanner that can read powertrain codes and show live data, you can check for any internal stored codes even if the "check engine" light is not illuminated...usually a fault that happened in the past but subsequently disappeared, but the code never cleared from memory. If the vibration happens only while the truck is moving, it may not be transmission-related. Wheels, alignment, or brakes may be the problem. If it ONLY happens while braking, then it may be due to a warped brake rotor. Hope this helps!
