'95 Geo Prizm Idles But Won't Take Gas

Help!- My 1995 Geo Prizm (with 208,000 miles) was running fine, but a couple of weeks ago it suddenly had a problem. It starts and idles fine, but if you try to give it gas, it dies. When this happens, the plugs appear wet, as if the engine is flooding. I had it towed to my mechanic, who has checked everything he can think of, but can't find the problem. The alternator is fine (it was replaced about 3 months ago), no short circuits, all electric appears fine, O2 sensor is ok, compression is fine and the fuel injectors appear ok (he's checking them again today). He also swapped out the computer chip, but that made no difference. Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong???

Hopefully you've gotten it figured out?? I had a similar problem when my spark plug boot had shorted out. What was your answer?
