1996 conti electrical problems (3)

hope someone can help....

i have 3 problems with my 96 conti....

1. the power trunk release will not release, when i oush the trunk release button on the drivers side door panel, i hear what sounds like a relay click from the rear seat area but thats it.. have to use key

2. heater/ac fan blower just stopped... all fuses seem fine (this, going by the '97 conti manual that was in the car when i bought it...maybe the fuse locations are different), all the EATC function switches work..but no blower

3. drivers power window seems to get stuck or sticks when it goes ALL the way down... have to literally bang a bit with my hand on the lower door panel for it to operate. also with this window, if rain gets down in it, it wont even go down as well as the keypad light is rather dim as if shorting somehow. i am very capable of fixing all if i know what to do and where it is. need to know how to remove this door's panel as well.

please help... u can contact me (new to this forum) at:

hope someone can help!!!

thanks again

Check the wire connections at the pulldown assembly. If there's no connection problems replace the pulldown assembly. Junkyard unit will due for now.

Look here too:

The fuse locations are the same for 96/97. Check the "Blower Speed Controller" with a known good one. Junkyard unit will due for now.

You need to get inside and inspect the window regulator, and/or motor assembly. The window regulator drive gear can wear on one side causing slippage. Also, the drive motor assy. has internal plastic clutch buttons that deteriorate, the first symptom is no movement in extreme situations, then no movement at all.

If there's any electrical problem with the keypad that can't be corrected by cleaning the connectors inside the door, the keypad will have to be replaced.

There's two bolts holding the pull handle to the door. Small plastic covers on the ends of the pull handle cover the bolts. Careful when removing these covers, the little fastener barbs break easily.
After pull handle removal, the rest of the door panel is held in place with standard panel clips, removable with std panel removal tools.

All these subjects were covered recently with great responses, try the search feature for Lincoln and child forums for:
