Smoking when idle
95 GC 5.2L
When I stop at a light or pull thru a drive thru and set, my Jeep starts smooking quite a bit. This has been going on several months. I have paid particular attention to the fluid levels and the oil and coolant doesn't seem to change at all. Any ideas as to where this smoke is coming from? |

Re: Smoking when idle
There was a SB about the intake manifold gaskets shifting with age/use and letting crankcase vapors into the engine cylinders. Would likely be more noticable at an idle when the vacuum is higher with the closed throttle.
Also check you PCV system valve, baffles in the valve cover and the hoses. Could be plugged somewhere. JD |

I had the intake manifold gasket replaced about 2 months ago. Before, it was burning oil. I assumed thats what the smoke was but it didn't go away after the gasket was replaced but it did stop burning oil.
