Okay, I know there are alot of pro's that go through this forum, so I was looking for some tips on getting more hp. So far I've looked into getting a super charger, cold air intake, body kit, coil over suspension and braking, and other things. But I just would just like to hear some of ya'lls opinions on what exactly to do. I would like to get it to around 250-300hp, and still be a everyday driving car, but be able to have fun on the weekends.

I'm a college student, and just trying to get in to the whole tuner thing.

Yuo will need some serious internal work to make those kind of number. You'll be wanting boost. Avoid the RSM Vortech charger, for your own sanity's sake. The GM s/c kit for the Ecotec will be out soon, BUT, you'll need to go to a smaller pulley. 2.7" or something to get the numbers you want. The internal work will be to handle the extra stress form FI. Dropping the comp ratio to 9.5:1 or even 9:1 over your stock 10:1 will help avoid knock/detonation. forged rods, pystons, tuftrided/nitrided crank. You're looking at close to 20lb of boost to sit at 300 wheel. 16 will get you somewhere in the middle I'd say. It's possible but you're probably best of going the Turbo route for that kind of power but you'll need something to sort your fuelling out, like the ApexI Super AFC-II. Removing the direct ignition system and installing an MSD or similar igntion system will help too. you will then be able to adjust fuel and spark. There is a guy in Michigan with the 2.4 in a 98 zed running 359whp. saw it at the RSM show in May this year. With that kind of power, investing in an LSD will be a good idea if you plan to drive it in a straight line, Quaife make an LSD for the Getrag (5 speed), may be worthwhile looking into that. that will run to near $2000. It's a helical gear LSD which IMO are the best type although they technically aren't LSD's but torque Biasing differentials as they cannot lock 100% on one side. Quaife don't even call it an LSD. You're looking at about $10g in motor work alone for Turbo. The trans wont obviously last as long and also you'll need an uprated clutch if you got 5 speed which will be best, you'll get shite tranny slip in an auto with that kind of power.
