92 Regal GS Code 42
I have a 1992 Regal GS with the 3.8l engine. Here is the problem. one day the car was running fine. I go out to start it the next morning and it was VERY hard to start. When it did start it was acting as if there was a miss or out of time (running kinda rough). Needless to say the service engine soon light was on. I used the paperclip trick to pull the code. It was code 42. Anyone have any idea what this is? Also, the tachometer was acting really funny. At idle the tach usually read somewhere around 1000. Now at idle it reads between 2500 and 3000 RPM. If I give it a little gas the tach goes up to 7000 and over. Doeas this problem have anything to do with the code 42 or is it a separate problem entirely? Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.

Re: 92 Ragal GS Code 42
This usually relates to the ign module or circuits involved in the module and bad grounds/connections. Go to troublecodes.net and do a search for that code, lots of info but complicated.

I tried troublecodes.net but they do not have any codes listed for my car. Is there anywhere else I can look?

On troublecodes.net look on the rt hand long column in blue, at the bottom is the reference to 42, applies to all dis gm cars.
