cost to replace bag ignition switch

I was just quoted a cost to have the following replaced at my GM dealer

1). Replacing bag ignition switch

2). Replacing drivers door hinge pins and bushings ( quoted $100.00 )

total cost is $432.35

I live in CT if that makes any difference on how the cost is determined

thanks

Stephen

Had my switch replaced last year. It cost $125.00 for the part from a GM dealer, plus 2 hours labor and 1 hour diagnostics @ $60.00/hour (discount thru the company I work for).

I just bought a new switch at Autozone last week for $89.00 (The same exact unit that Chevy sells). It took me 1.5 hours to replace it.

Re: cost to replace bag ignition switch

I replaced my 96 Blazer Ingnition Switch. Paid $76.00 from Redline Auto Parts (Which is Delco Parts). Took me about 1 1/2 hours to replace. Its really not that hard to replace. The only problem I can think of that you mite run into is the 2 screws that hold the Ignition Switch to the Ingnition key assembly. I had Male Torx screws holding it in place. Luckly I have a set of Male & Female Torx sockets. The rest of the replacement of the harness is easy.

E4 Torx socket, lisle makes a long shank socket specifically for GM/Cadilac distributor/coil removal. Also needed an E6 socket to get the top sterring wheel cover off, put a needle nose pliers will work.

Replacing drivers door hinge pins and bushings ( quoted $100.00 )

I just replaced the hinge pins/bushings on both my front doors. Cost me...$20.00.
We have a sticky on how to do this yourself.
