Window
Driver side window this morning was acting goofy.
Switch produced no response at first, t hen a little response which allowed window to go into autodown. However, either there is an issue with the window itself or the relay switch as the window will not run back up. Passenger side window works fine. It wouldn't be that big of an issue if the window wasn't stuck down. Oh well. Now it's sitting in a "secured garage" as they advertise here on campus. Hope any potential thieves don't know where the trunk button is let alone how to get into the backseat  . I am starting to regret taking these tutoring jobs that take up my mornings.

After further reading I am determining it is more than likely the switch.
I could get slight movement on my last attempt to roll the window up. However, I will have to check it out. It just HAD to happen on the day that I am busy.

which window is the problem? you said the passenger window was acting goofy, then said the passenger window is working fine. I assume since you said it went down automatically, then the drivers side is the problem.

the window switch is GM part #10404698 and fits 97-00 models. The part is dealer only and runs $84.89 retail. The window regulator is part #10309980 and would run you $176.99 + s/h and I stock that part. I could get you the switch also for about $65 + s/h if you didn't want to go junk-yarding.

I'm unfortunately going to have to go stealer for parts on this one. If the window was stuck up, it would be no issue.
But I cart around expensive textbooks and I go to a large University so I have to keep things secured and can't wait. Thanks though for the part numbers.

You know what it was?
The Driver Side switch came disconnected somehow. Reconnected unit and works fine. Didn't have to spend $ on parts, problem got fixed. Can't complain about that.

I think what caused the switch to come loose was that the previous owner somehow got in there becuase one of the clips to the plastic piece that sits around all the toggle switches as part of the arm rest was broken.
This allows me to move that piece around unlike the passenger side which sits snug and won't move. Could anyone help me in finding a part number for that? If you need clarification, I will take a picture tonight.

I believe the bezel around the switch is what you are asking for. The GM part number is 10420344 for a two door and comes in Graphite(gray) only. Dealer retail is $13.35.
