door lock and window failure

My door locks and power windows quit working at the same time . It was puzzling because there were no blown fuses , the circuit breakers were good and I had voltage to the motors . I found that I had voltage to the door but not to the body . I ran a ground jumper from the window switch to the body and they work now . Has anyone had this problem on an older S-10 blazer? Fix one thing and the next challenge will rear itself . I love this stuff .

I'd start metering wires on the harness to the switch and find the bad ground... Though I rarely see a bad ground to those switches... Glad you found a work around though!

Re: door lock and window failure

Ugh, I have a malfunctioning power mirror switch. It's merely turned into blue-green paste inside....got to fix that soon. But my point is, look for corrosion anywhere and use electrical contact cleaner. It might clear the works out so you can restore your normal ground wire position if you need to.

Re: door lock and window failure

That blue/green paste inside the switch wolfox is talking about is usually caused by moisture, Opening the door or window in the pouring rain, the water drips down the door into the cracks of the switches then corrodes the contacts.
