Yet another problem...
I have an 84 245 it runs fine sometimes for days the engine will cut out and maybe a backfire. While this is happening the tach drops dead no signal. Then maybe 10 or 15 sec it takes off again. And it may be ok for 2 weeks or 2 minutes.

Re: Yet another problem...
Suggest you check for loose wires on ignition system. Could be a dodgy coil possibly.
