I broke my shifter!!!!!!
Well I was racing out in the country all day and since it was a no civic day every car had to be at 3500Lbs. So there I was in my Stealth and a guy pull beside me in one of those Gran Prix with the Supercharger. Originally we had it set as turbo against turbo and every one else was free for all. But he was the only supercharge car out there and with all that weight we laugh at him. Well at line I knew he was going to get me seeing that a 97 GTP did 0-60 in 6.3 but it had a governor and we were running two stage races, a quarter and a mile. So he beat me off the line I rode second as long as I could and then all in a sudden I shifted to third as hard as I could and right there and then my shifter broke I went face first into my dash slammed on brakes and ended up in the ditch. Everyone came running up to me thinking I just blew my engine or timing belt. I climbed out said no its just my shifter.
Found out that the dumb a__ I bought this car from cut the shifter and tried to reweld it back on. So if any one out there has a OEM shifter lying around I would gladly buy it. I also need tail-lights and sideskirts seeing that I cracked all of them when I slammed into that ditch.

i've seen people cut and re-weld the shifter to give the effect of a short-throw. just make sure the weld is quality...and this was not so in your case. so you could get it welded well by someone who knows what they're doing, or spend more money to get an OEM shifter + peace of mind.
PM talskinyguy and see if he's got any of those parts left from his car part-out.

oh man thats terrible. I suggest posting on 3si also and maybe change the title of your thread from "broke my shifter" to "need new shifter, anyone selling?" also call up some local car recyclers and junk yards.

www.car-part.com is a database of all the nation-wide parts yards, salvage yards, and junk yards. you can search by specific parts, even! great resourse to find the part you need relatively close to your location.

wow that is nuts. Sorry to hear you ended up in a ditch. At work some guy just did that with a brand new srt4 last week. He was reving out 1st, slammed it into 2nd and broke the nob right off....was funny as all hell, but that was because we didn't own the car. Hope the repairs are quick and cheap.
