Re: water temp gauge
Depending on few variables like altitude, atmospheric pressure, outside temperature, and modifications on the motor, anywhere from 180F to 220F is normal. The autometer guage may be different, but the universal standard is that the needle should be slighly under half.

Re: water temp gauge
when you're actually driving you should see significantly lower temps. I mean on a highway though, not like stop and go driving, that's where the highest temps are (idling)

Re: water temp gauge
When fully warmed up, I run between 204 and 206. Sometimes after a hard 2 or 3 gear pull the temp will jump up to 208 or 210, but it immediately comes back down.
Sounds normal to me.

Re: water temp gauge
I had a OBD-II scanner tool that hooked up to laptop. Kinda like DSM Link, but with no tuning. Just strickly sensor data. You could actually watch the coolant temp go up on the laptop when the data wasw downloaded to the computer. Kinda cool, because you could see exactly when the temp got hotter or cooler, depending on how fast you were going and all the other factors. It was so nice I returned it a few days later then.

Re: water temp gauge
if you liked that, you'd love DSMLink
also keep in mind the ECU retards timing 1 degree at 210 degrees!

Re: water temp gauge
So, you want it cold then? Is this true with N/T 420a? Also, how can we get over that then?

Re: water temp gauge
you don't want it cold, you want it right in the operating temperature. Driving around temps shouldn't hit 210 and cause the ECU to retard timing. I don't know anything about the N/T's though, sorry.
