1996-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse

im looking to purchase a 1996-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse and i have some questions.

has anybody had any problems with the engine or transmission (automatic)?
is there anything else i should look out for, ie. mechanical defects?

Re: 1996-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse

ot to stear you away but if your looking for a car that wont have problems your in the wrong place. if your not into the whole turbo issue get a GS but if you want a turbo get the GST and/or AWD get a GSX.

Your asking a forum of thousands of people if they have ever had a problem with their car. What do you think the response would be? This is a place where people come to get help for problems and such.

Reliability is not the greatest with these cars. They look hella good, can be fast, but not very reliable. Sorry if this dosn't really help you, but your question is very vague.

I disagree. I think these cars are pretty reliable until you start modding them. My car when stock with a catback gave me NO problems whatsoever. Now, its a different story heh.
