Question Body Kit Paint

Hey guys, I was just curious. As you know tax return season is coming up before long and I was thinking I might want a subtle classy bodykit to slap on my car. Don't worry, I won't rice it up too hardcore. Anyway, does anyone know how much it might cost to get it matched to my stock silver color, painted, and installed?

Re: Body Kit Paint

me and my neighbor painted my 1st car for about 100 bucks tops. we sanded down all the paint, sprayed primer on it, and spray painted it white. after that we wet sanded it and made 2 clear coats. its really not that hard as long as you have the time. it took about 3 days, 1 to sand everything down wash and then prime it, the 2nd day was the actual paint, and the 3rd was the clear coats. It looked like a new car. Its not easy to do if the car body is cold cuz then the paint runs.

Re: Body Kit Paint

I just painted my car myself and it is alot of work but if you are on a budget than its a good idea. You really don't save to much money though. I spent about 300 dollars painting my car, sand paper, primer, paint, clear coat. I could have takin it to a paintshop and gotten it done for about 500 and it was about a weeks worth of work. Just make sure you have ALOT of spare time to do it

Re: Body Kit Paint

pretty much to install is unbolting, bolting, using bondo o something else to mold the kit to the car, sand it down so it's really smooth, and thats about it. it's easier said than done. that alone will take you like 2 days min

Re: Body Kit Paint

molding your kit is another story, you have to *gasp* rough of the paint all along the trim lines on your car and install the kit, then bondo over the kit, the crease and the paint on your car and then sand it down smooth and flat, then paint that beast

Re: Body Kit Paint

It took me a whole day the kit the front and back kit are pretty simple to do. Just make sure you dont bolt the kit on too hard or you'll crack the fiberglass. Use rubber washers and that fixes this problem and as far as the side skirts. Don't use bondo man that shit sucks, get as much epoxy as you possibly can and epoxy the hell out of the side skirt and the side of your car. Just to give you an idea I used a huge gallon of epoxy on each side of my side skirts. The pictures of my install are on these forums if you want proof. Just do it like this and take a look at my car if you do it like that it'll look proffesional. I've had my kit for a year and I havn't had any cracking or paint chipping off or anything

wo why do you have to bondo/epoxy it? Why can't you just paint it and slap it on? Does it really make THAT much of a difference in appearence and does everyone do it that way?

Re: Body Kit Paint

then it'll look like you just bolted it on. it won't be like how smooth yht regular factory body is. when you look from a side, it looks smooth. when its not molded on, you can see how the car looks like different pieces put on.

Re: Body Kit Paint

it wont really, it gives your car a one peice look that is VERY nice, its cheaper to mold now than to have ot mold and repaint later
